Ravi Philemon/

Mr David Goh, brother of the secretary-general of National Solidarity party, Mr Goh Meng Seng, passed away on Thursday morning. Mr Goh was only 56 years old and had no prior major illnesses before his death from a sudden cardiac arrest.

Mr David Goh was a member of Workers’ Party since 2005.  He helped Workers’ Party in their 2006 General Election (GE) campaign. Recently he decided to help his younger brother in his campaign in Tampines GRC. The elder Mr Goh was the principal election agent for Tampines GRC.

“He led the entire machinery of our campaign in Tampines GRC”, says Mr Goh Meng Seng. “The stress of the campaign trail killed him. But I don’t want the demise of my brother to side-track NSP from our mission in this GE.  My brother’s last wish was also that the fight should go on”, he adds.

The younger Mr Goh says that he will not let this tragedy in his family affect him from leading NSP to victory in this GE. Mr Goh pays tribute to his late brother saying, “My brother is one of the many unsung heroes of democracy.”

Mr David Goh is also a friend to many at The Online Citizen.  TOC expresses our heartfelt condolences to the late Mr Goh’s family.

TOC will bring you details of Mr David Goh’s wake as soon as we have them.

May the Almighty God bless David’s soul and bring him to heaven. As usual the good ones die early, as God do not want them to suffer too long on earth, only the evil ones are left to live to a ripe old age, and when on the deathbed, God would not allow them to die so easily, they have to suffer first before eventual demise.

  7. perspective 28 April 2011

    Dear Meng Seng,

David will look after NSP GRC, and also the
SPP GRC and the WP GRC, and win big, else he would leave this world with regret.

Will light a candle and pray for him tonight.

  11. ponder 28 April 2011

One generation passes on, have our dear
    singaporeans woken up?

Our opposition party candidates soldier on, are we allowing them to go on their own?

Will we continue to vote according to petty wishes like estate improvement?

Will we finally see the big picture that
we need our oppositions in parliament, to actually vote in parliament for us?

This is so important, let us not be selfish or greedy like PAP want us to..

With opposition in parliament, we hope to
have a balanced government that stop using public funds according to their GE
    campaigns.

Beloved singaporeans, how many of you will see our country as a whole, do you
see how our national identity is fading away?

  12. yeoman 28 April 2011

MAY THE SOUL OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED,DAVID GOH,THROUGH THE MERCY OF GOD,REST IN PEACE.

DAVID was indeed a true son of Singapore,a bro to all true blue sinkies.

OUR CONDOLENCES TO DAVID’S BROTHER AND OUR BROTHER,GOH MENG SENG AND THEIR LOVED ONES.

  13. Dear Mr.Goh M.S.,

No one ask your brother to give his life for a cause to have a better Singapore but he did.

He gave the supreme sacrifice in order for us to be free from supprssion and I salute him for that.

My deepest condolences to you and all your families and may he have not died in vain.

    JR

  14. singapore has lost a great son, David. we must continue to work together to fulfil David’s dream of a singapore that must have opposition to check the government. Only then, we can have a future for our generations to come ! all singaporeans who love singapore, stand up and be counted in our fight for our country.

  15. RIP Mr David Goh.
    God is with you now.
Condolences to DGoh’s family and to GMS.
    Stay strong.

Hmm… I do not (never) trust the lightning rod. Since DG had no prior ailments, how come so timely & so lightning fast such tragedy happened?
Is it me or does anyone suspect fowl play? Did he examine his chicken rice that he may have had eaten from from the eggs stage to hatched to cage to slaughter? Was something added to the food? Anything is possible with lightning rod. Maybe he looked away for “35 seconds” and lightning struck. Please investigate whenever possible.

PS: This analogy is not making light the tragedy of this situation. Given what we have read on the BS on nomination day and all the blatant evils of MIW, tell me what else is beneath them?

Like these pigs dunno what to say, we must have INSURANCE- must investigate.

PPS: If GMS can believe in UFOs, my conspiracy suspicion is not too far fetched too. To each his own.

    Peace!

  21. No Hope 28 April 2011

The good die young. The old have karmic debts to clear.

    Dear Mr Goh Meng Seng,

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

May David’s soul rest in peace. May he receive God’s heavenly blessings and dwell in His eternal glory.

David’s and your fight for us Singaporeans will not be in vain. We have come this far in Singapore’s political maturity, farther than we have ever been before. A grateful and heartfelt THANK YOU to you and your brother and many others.

It is now up to every true-blue Singaporean to push on and continue the fight.

Best wishes to NSP! Wishing NSP victory in the elections!

  22. cityslicker 28 April 2011

I feel very affected by this news. Mr David Goh was clearly fighting for something much larger than himself and his sudden passing is especially poignant at this crucial moment. My heartfelt condolences to Goh Meng Seng, his mother, and to the family of David Goh.

David, may you rest in peace. The good fight will go on in your name.

  23. My deepest condolence to you Mr Goh.

Your brother and you are the true unsung heroes that had sacrificed alot for the sake of Sporeans.

I had decided to give my vote to NSP a long time ago when I heard rumours that your team will contest in Tampines GRC.

    Stay strong Mr Goh..

  24. californian 29 April 2011

Condolences to Mr. Goh and his family.

This is exactly one of the situations I was thinking about when I complained about the shortness of the Nomination window (one hour!). Imagine if that had happened at the Nomination Center during that one hour time frame. Should Mr. Goh Meng Seng go ahead with his nomination procedures and ignore his collapsed brother next to him because there is less than one hour left?

The law should be changed to let Nomination Day be at least a full day. Once a candidate’s nomination is accepted for a particular constituency, he should not be allowed to move to another.

Of course, if people want to wait until the last minute. that is their choice and they are then responsible for their actions.

  25. Mr Goh, your brother passing has given you the double strength to move on. Do not falter and remember that many Tampines residents are with you along the same line of battle.

  26. God Bless.

    Hi Ravi,
    Thanks for sharing the info.
Read in ST today that David has a son and daughter.
Would anyone want to coordinate an education fund for them?
I am willing to donate $2000 to the fund.
    Thanks

  28. 出师未捷身先死 长使英雄泪满襟。

It’s sad that even a win in Tampines will not make up for the loss of a compatriot and good brother.

Life is more important than an election, all those taking part in it,pls take care of your health, don’t overstretch yourself.

  29. Neutral 30 April 2011

Sympathetic tactic. Good good; they’ve become more mature in using tactics :)

  30. Robert Teh 1 May 2011

    Mr. Goh Meng Seng,

Your brother is the true blue Singaporean.

He will always be in our heart. God bless.

  31. Mourner 5 May 2011

Stay put at nirvana and never to come back to this suffering world.

    Amitabha!

  32. To those who had doubts on why these good men died and the evil ones live on.

These men died to show that Singapore is a place to live for and worth fighting for, and will never rest until Singapore transforms itself into a true democracy.

These men strived to contest the government because they have seen their fellow Countrymen suffered under the leadership of greed.

These men showed us that an average Singaporean have the right to defend his own country and fight for the right and dignity of all Singaporeans.

Evil men triumphs because there isn’t enough good men to stop them

Rest in peace, Mr David Goh, and hope that your efforts in this life will reward you on your next life.

Mr Goh Meng Seng, I’d say, Fight on! Fight for the people of Singapore and establish a true democracy in this slave factory!

  33. Robert Teh 9 May 2011

    Mr. Goh Meng Seng,

I agree with TB. You have established a credential for standing up to unfair profiteering on public housing.

You brother David will be remembered to have sacrificed as a righteous man. We pray for him.

Do not give up on righteousness and good virtue and press on.

  34. SPP supporter 9 May 2011

NSP could have pulled in more ‘sympathy’ votes by bringing up at every rally Mr David Goh’s death in the process of working for the opposition cause. But they were too honourable to use such tactics although the PAP was not above crying & apologising to milk sympathy.

My tears fall as much as for Mr David Goh as for Mr Chiam See Tong. RIP Mr David Goh, you will not be forgotten. God bless Mr Goh Meng Seng & Mrs Lina Chiam!
