All those who talked for him are from his co. All are Paul L P.
He is just a Big trumpet.
WHY DR TONY TAN SHOULD SAY SORRY FOR MULTI-BILLION DOLLARS LOSSES IN FOREIGN BANKS
Dr Tony Tan was born into a banking dynasty as the nephew of Tan Chin Tuan. He was a Finance Minister. He is a bank tycoon with significant stakes in Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation. He was Chairman and Chief Executive of OCBC.
He has been in GIC from its inception till the end of June 2011. When the $24.2 billion purchases were made on UBS and Citigroup, he was both the Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of GIC. He was effectively, the Chief Executive of GIC.
Normally, GIC does not take significant stakes in any business. In the case of UBS and Citigroup, it made exceptions under the leadership of Dr Tony Tan. The outcome has been disastrous. Multi-billion dollars losses can be seen from the stock price charts of both Citigroup and UBS. Citigroup had a reverse stock split which may confuse some observers. Its stock price has fallen far more than that of UBS.
If Dr Tan had used OCBC shares or capital to purchase these two foreign banks, OCBC will be in very deep troubles or even bankrupt today. Just because he used the reserves of Singaporeans does not mean he should shamelessly escape responsibilities and accountability. If the Prime Minister can say sorry for the escape of Mas Selamat, why can’t a Presidential candidate own up to his expensive mistakes that cost every Singaporeans; few of whom are as wealthy as he is.
Dr Tan may not live to see the stocks return in value to its original purchase price. So, why does he emphasize long term with his spectables logo for his campaign? His most appropriate logo should be a GIANT SORRY!
http://singaporereserves.blogspot.com
The biggest trumpeter is Tony, lost so much of our money in GIC, and yet still boast he is the best person to guide Singapore’s economy thru’ this ongoing crisis in the West.
How? By trying to be howlian again, and invest in those European banks that are on the verge of collapse any time now? It is deja vu again, ain’t it?
Vote any Tan, but not Tony Tan.
This ex actress, Sharon Au is a big joker at TT’s rally.
Mrs Tan hold the mike and gyrate so much with her mouth on the mike while her swirling body move up and down wow so nice to have a dancing queen First Lady to be here to entertain us leh!
:)
tony screwed up investing in those banks!!
many GRAVE mistakes were made by tony -as chairman of GIC.
tony lost billions of our $$ reserves!!
bets man to guide singapore??
OMG -only a mentally retarded can believe!!!
What was size of crowd?
Should have donated his $48K + expenses to Charity – better mileage.
A Vote Splitter -wondered who sponsored this amount ?
TKL campaign effectively ended yesterday night based on the crowd turnout. Based on my initial instinct, he should have pull out after gotten the COE. He will split some votes but will probably end up losing his deposit.
I would suggest voting TSJ to prevent a ex-PAP getting into Istana to continue the Nathanesque regime.
The call to elect a President that will not be constantly questioning the government on policies is a specious one. At first sight, it sounds logical and appealing to those who argues that there shouldn’t be an alternative centre of power to the elected government. However, a closer examination of this line of thinking reveals several flaws.
The Constitution clearly mandated the Elected President with the task of protection of our Reserves. As envisaged by the government this meant not allowing it to draw down the Reserves for frivolous spending.
The incumbent government obviously didn’t intend that they should be questioned on their policy making decisions and rightly so too. However, insofar as to government policies that will impact our Reserves somewhere down the line in the future it stands to reason the Elected President not only has a moral obligation but a duty to question the government and challenge it vigorously.
If the Elected President realised that impending or even current government policies will lead to the drawdown, weakening, or dissipation of our Reserves should he remain silent for fear of intruding into OB (Out of Bound) Markers? Or, should he take a back seat and simply wait for the inevitable day when he can tell the government ‘I told you so’ and then refuse to sign off on any drawdown of our Reserves?
It is not difficult to imagine when that day arrives the country will be in economic mess and any loss of confidence by the market of its future will push the country over the edge. Try putting yourself in the shoes of the President at that crucial moment when everything he foresaw years ago came true. He will be confronting a real moral dilemma he refused or was prevented from confronting years ago.
It is a Hobson’s choice he will be facing. Saying no to the government’s drawdown of the Reserves can lead to economic ruin for the country and the blame for it falls on the President. Saying yes will only encourage an emboldened government to continue its wasteful and profligate waywardness.
A look down the road tells us we need a strong Elected President that is prepared to be confrontational insofar as the protection of our Reserves is concerned. We need a President that will not remain silent and happily collect his S$4 million annual salary regularly even when told he can’t be informed of the true state of our Reserves because it will take 56 man-years to compute.
In my book only one man has shown the moral courage to do this job: Tan Jee Say. He has shown his mettle staring down Tony Tan’s veiled threats on the ISA issue. The other two hopefuls were merely opportunistic spectators with wet dreams of the annual S$4 million salary, hoping to die rich – I can’t imagine how anyone can ever finish spending so much money in one lifetime in Singapore.
where is the bloomin pap dog supspicious?
ow many supporters was @ this rally?
1.2million perhaps?
i don’t see YOU make noise?
or maybe the yiochukang stadium is 3 X the size of toapayoh stadium?
He is not the only voter splitter. He had the balls to come out after TCB. TJS is the splitter.

Vote any Tan, but not Tony Tan.
This ex actress, Sharon Au is a big joker at TT’s rally
……………..
if you would had check sharon au backgrounds..you would had known his father was a loyal government servants who did his contribution by keepin singapoor streets SAFE…and sharon au worked for who?
I have always been a fan of Leong Sze Hian. Hearing him speak, I seriously think and support him to stand for GE next round. He is one of few men out there who have the skills and ability to ask the right questions. Penetrative, incisive, relevant, purposeful yet simple questions.
Mr Tan Kin Lian is a good man.. but my vote will goes to Mr Tan Jee Say..
oh my satan, what a good man he is…to took the sins of the investors.
TJS was the last person to stand for the P.E. So, who is the votes snatcher?
TJS was enjoying his freedom for years, speaking out on nothing and missing out the hostile political environment then.
He only came out recently, when the ground is much more sweeter and is now playing the Gentleman’s role.
Don’t be fooled by the picture above, there could be more supporters. Did you see news clips of him doing high-five with kids and others in walk abouts?
YCK on a weekday evening, expected and slightly ulu, but it is probably his homebase, as he is from the seletar area it seems.
he write mails regularly to Straits times to air his opinions on some matters.
When he speaks at speaker’s corner, he blinks alot . This have been claimed by psychologists and know-it-all human resource managers as an indication of something. However, we should give the benefit of the doubt, blinking could be over strained eyes from reading too much and on computers .
Another thing is I received an email from him advertising his bid. However, I ‘m curious how he obtain my email. Could have employed some IT services.I would prefer he just stick to pamphlets.
All PAP associated are stained with some questionable issues, as even being in grassroots, they stand to gain by doing Paul L P-ing or networking, they say.
The one in SDP is in my opinion…SDP brought distrust to opposition parties from the men on the street, that weakened opposition for the past decade and slightly more.
Leong Sze Hian is good, always like to read his articles, gained a lot of knowledge from his articles. Enjoy his speech also. He should speak at Tan Jee Say’s rally so more will know about what he said. Tan Kin Lian should not contest, he is a good man but his support is not as strong as Tan Jee Say and many see him as votes splitter. I urge all to support Tan Jee Say instead to deny any PAP man as President.
Tan Kin Lian deserves our support.
He stood up for the LB investors while the Govt sided with the banks and financial instutions.
Where were the other three during those times?
I wanted TKL and and TJS to win, but I will tilt towards TKL.
tkl sung this song after he stood up for the investors

TAN KIN LIAN IS A GOOD MAN; BUT HE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIS OWN WISE COUNSEL BEFORE DECIDING TO TAKE PART IN THIS PE
Because I am giving my vote to TJS, as he is a more capable and inspirational candidate. He is fighting an intelligent and focused contest with many supporters smoothly helping out in his PE campaign, unlike the problems-plagued TKL.
It looks like TKL is going to lose his deposit. Today’s ST report on p.A8 said that TKL is the only PE candidate to suffer the dubious honour of being expected by the electorate to lose his deposit of $48,000 if he fails to secure 12.5% of the votes in this four-cornered fight. But it will be very sad if this good guy loses it as I like what his soundbites during his campaign—about being the people’s voice, honesty, fairness, courage and public service.
Way back, TKL had blogged that he had wisely told his friends who had urged him to contest the next presidential election, that he would do so ONLY if he could secure at least 100,000 people’s signatures to support his decision to contest. Sadly, despite his pathetic failure to secure to secure such endorsements from Singaporeans, he went headlong into his presidential morass, as is indicative of the poor turn-out for his Yio Chu Kang PE Rally, and from the many cock-ups here and there that are plaguing his campaign on-stop. He should have taken other’s advice to pull out after he got his COE.
Best of luck to you, Mr Tan Kin Lian!
I was there at YCK stadium. Crowd was less than 500. Gave the fence sitters an idea who they should vote. TKL’s bid failed. It is still not late for him to withdraw gracefully. His Deposit of 48K can be donated in the next 2 days. Only he has to announce and we will truly believe that he is wise plus good man.
patehtic crowd and a clear sign of whom they surely dont want and are not at all interested in batting an eyelid for president. poor chap may lose his 48k deposit afterall.
Tan Su Ling: Do you want a silent President caged in the Istana?
- Is she a supporter of TJS?
to me,you are a godo singaporean who has doen soem godo things for your fellow countrymen.
between you and TJS, i must humbly say that i pick TJS for my EP.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD if both of you were running mates, that would ahve been the best for singaporeans.
perhaps, you could continue your good work in some other ways.
GOD BLESS YOU N YOUR FAMILY.

He is not the only voter splitter. He had the balls to come out after TCB. TJS is the splitter
——————————
If I remember TKL’s statement then was that he is applying for the coe so that pap will find it harder to reject tcb application. he is there to do a noble deed, that is to ensure tcb gets the coe. I have seem thru TKL’s bullshit.. he has long time ambition to run for the ep and he is not upfront with the people. he plays the hard to get reluctant candidate. where is his 100,000 signatures before he will even consider? this guy salivating over the gravy pot. i also remmeber he said he will donate as much as 90% to charity prior to getting the coe. Why stop at 50%? tjs cap the pay at $500k, how come tkl did not better him? All said, this chap is a smiling tiger and his honesty message makes me wanting to puke.
TKL is a good and honourable man and I have no doubt he’s contesting the Presidency to speak up for the ordinary Singaporeans. He is not in it for the money or personal glory and it is very unfair to call him a vote splitter as he entered the contest before TJS. But TJS would make a stronger and more fearless President and this is what we need now. All the best to you Mr Tan Kin Lian. Many Singaporeans are grateful to you for standing up for us.
I swung from TKL to TJS when the latter came into the ring. For a simple reason that TJS is a better candidate for the nation now and the decade on.
Prior to that, I have commented in TKL’s blog to up his ante and gave suggestions on how he can frame this PE on his terms. I see that he did none of that and chose to be the most passive among the four. You might get lucky if it is 1-on-1, waiting for the other guy to make mistakes. But in 4 cornered fights, you better have offensive strategies and show leadership in the race. Last night’s rally turnout was perhaps a telling sign about his passivity. If not for Leong Sze Hian and his daughter, the rally would have been a real bore.
If I am TKL, I might serious consider privately getting my supporters to cast for TJS instead.
FROM THE PAP INSIDER….THE STRATEGISTS ARE CONFIDENT THAT TT WILL WIN BY THE SUPPORT OF 73 UNIONS, ASME, SBF, PA(INCLUDES ALL THE cccc,rc),TAXI DRIVERS, CHINESE/INDIAN/MALAY CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND ALL THOSE HAWKERS INCLUDING HDB SHOPKEEPERS WHO HAVE TO TOE THE LINE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER FOR SURVIVAL.
THE INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO THE MADIACORP, SHIT TIMES AND OTHER PAPigs MOUTHPIECES TO SUPPORT TCB AND TKL STRONGLY. THIS WOULD SPLIT THE VOTES. INFACT TCB IS BEING SWARMPED BY EX-COLLEGUES OF PAP WHO ARE PREPARED TO ASSIST HIM IN ALL POSSIBLE WAYS EXCEPT THEIR VOTES.
LASTLY BUT VERY IMPORTANT. BE CAREFUL ABOUT POLLING AGENTS.THEY MUST NOT BE WOLVES IN SHEEP SKIN. THE TACTIC OF PAPIGS IS TO SEND THEIR MEN TO VOLUNTEER AS POLLING AGENTS FOR THE OPPOSITION.
THIS POLLING AGENTS JOB IS TO NOT RAISE ANY OBJECTIONS AGAINST PAPIGS VOTES AND BE AGREEABLE TO THE PAPIGS POLLING AGENTS’ PROTESTS. EVEN A SLIGHT SCRATCH OF THE PEN ON THE VOTING SLIP ALSO THEY WOULD INVALIDATE.
Real Talent like Leong Sze Hian should join a opposition party and served the people. He alone equal is to the 81 clowns we have in parliament!
The crowd was so pathetic. Anyway, Mr Tan Kin Lian is a good man. He may be a good president. But I doubt he can fulfil his duty with 81 watch dogs ready to silent him. My vote goes to TJS who is a better candidate than TKL.
TKL was a non starter from day one.
No charisma.
Blinking eyes has improved though recently.
Supporters are mainly friends, family and close associates.
Besides insurance and some finance knows not and AWARE not what are the happenings around town and the grapevines.
Should have given his deposits and donations to charity where he would have been remembered if he had pull out.
I think Tan Cheng Bock’s indoor rally will have even worse turn out.
Hallo…all the way to Singapore Expo??
Think not.
TKL is a good man, came from a humble family and experiences of being poor b4. we need a president that is independent, have the courage to speak out for the poor! and truely he is the one isn’t it. ppl should understand that a president shouldn’t be either on the side of ruling or opposition party. he should be the neutral person and i strongly think TKL is the best canidate to perform the president role.
Are NS and GMS still in the same party? NS supports TJS and GMS supports TKL…just goes to show NS is backing the right horse whild GMS is always the loser.
TKL better pray he gets back his deposit – he stands no hell of a chance – not with his childish kindergarten style h-5.
Kin Lian, The rally on 24 Aug demolished all your chances to be an effective President. Why bring in speaker like super rich Ivy Singh to boast all her ‘big’ asset on stage? We were shocked that a dignified rally became a back-street peddler using offensive language like ” some IDIOT” being articulated. Furthermore, you are poor in planning. Given the restricted time, how can a person deliver the speech in 4 languages. Were you trying to boast like Ivy Singh? Your Indian MC was also a joker saying that the speech maybe delivered in `Vietnanese`. You have a serious audience who look up to you to give good substance for being our State Leader. However, you wasted this opportunity and now I have to change my mind to vote for another candidate instead. Hope you can retain your deposit. Better luck next time at the GE2016. You can then afford to joke, shout, talk offensively in vulgar language and test out your ability to speak Tamil and Malay. Right now, it is so painful to hear you speaking. So sad, we are not supporter for any camp, but you forfeited your chances of getting our votes.
