Dear Readers,
TOC is pleased to announce a groundbreaking forum organized for an unprecedented Presidential election.
In the first such event to be held by a local website, TOC held a studio discussion with all 4 Presidential candidates and an audience of 18 Singaporeans with a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
Participants included a Senior Counsel, bloggers and professors, a public servant, students, NGO activists and retired army personnel and the forum was expertly moderated by former Nominated Member of Parliament and veteran broadcast journalist Mr Viswa Sadasivan.
TOC will release a video recording of the forum in 2 parts, the first 45 minutes on Saturday evening 20 Aug, and the second 45 minutes on Sunday evening 21 Aug.
As a precursor for the video to come, we’re pleased to offer you a teaser of the no-holds-barred discussion that took place. Trust us, you won’t see anything like this on TV.

TJS is still edging towards sentiment pulling to garner votes for presidency. Enough of that GE S**t.
For a person who fell behind in society due to his lack of self worthiness, and blames every damn person but himself for it, including blaming the ruling government, this person’s vote is a vote.
For another person who did well by being a sensible citizen, is rational in deciding what is best and good, including digging deep into the nation’s policies and making sound judgement at deciding on which prospective candidate he entrusts his nation’s and kids’ future to, his vote is a vote.
TJS obviously has a lack of understanding of what might make or break this country. DISBAND TEMASEK?? I mean, you frickin’ kidding me?? Oh did he intend to shift entrepreneurship to the people?? You think any Tom, Dick or Harry in Singapore can afford to buy over these enterprises? First thing that will happen, SMRT will be bought by a Saudi Arabian company, then Keppel will be owned by a China company, then a USA dude buys Sembcorp. You think then these guys will still hold on to expensive Singaporean labor?? I’ll replace all the folks in these companies with cheap labor if I can right?? TJS thinks popular remarks are good, can win votes, but be careful, really careful of what an incompetent president with fancy speech can do to a country that we have built with our sweat and blood over 40 years!
So TJS has no real substance, and which type of voters will he try to pull then?? The low hanging fruit of course! Easy to sway with fiery speeches that just stir the nation into a divide, where one side of the divide will be swayed by popular promises. What do we have then? Singapore’s very own Chen Shui Bian and a divided country we will call home. Don’t vote for TJS because you are holding onto a pro-opposition mindset. This is not like you are supporting your “favorite” team anymore, this important vote, is for our country. If you don’t like TT, fine. But there are other Tans to choose from that are not TJS.
What??? TJS no substance???? Hey man, do some homework n check out his achievements 1st before u make any comment. He was a president scholar n graduated from Oxford University. His economic plan received endorsement from Lord Butler, former Head of British Civil Service. U hv to be better than him to say he has no substance, man….
Dr Tony Tan is no doubt definitely the best candidate for President position. As I strongly feel that all 3 candidates are unsuitable to pit against him (by indicating and excusing that they are independent and individualistic), so as Dr Tan himself. Dr Tan Cheng Bock has his own personal knowledge and perspective view on the roles of President, however his speech still determined his lack of full knowledge about roles of President and can also be heard talking irrelevantly to the topics of questions asked. I sincerely think that Dr Tony Tan truly states and says what he feels CURRENTLY in the world and is confident in his abilities, capabilities and personal viewpoints, of course, also through friendly relations within his diverse interactions with the various confident and elected political leaders to unite Singapore and create better a better future when he’s the elected President, but sorry to say that the other 3 candidates had spoken “blindly” without any true meaning. For a perfect candidate like Dr Tony Tan, Singapore could not have asked for more. We are being really foolish and throwing the baby out with the bath water if the votes are given to an unsuitable candidate. Let’s all take a minute to feel in our hearts and support the candidate who cares for the society at whole and the CURRENT logical issues facing Singapore which will be addressed. Stop complaining and start understanding at large why our political leaders set these policies before giving your opinions. What Singapore has provided us, we must definitely be appreciative and give back openly with warm welcoming hands to further progress it to a loving, gracious, happy and developed country for all to enjoy! Cheers! :D
Dear Singaporeans, please be mindful of the languages and insults you hurl out from your mouth or through your actions. If you are unaware of the whole issue about the problems you are worried of, review and consider every aspects of society and country’s interest before what comes out from you. It’s really hurtful and disrespectful to the presidential candidates so please be mindful of the words you use and SHARE your views in a NEUTRAL perspective and not using negativity, especially for us educated, knowledgeable and civilized Singaporeans. Think wisely before any actions because choices have consequences. Whether it is positive or negative, it all depends on you.
I think TT indeed don’t understand the question that was asked.
The question was asked if the so called Marxists were fairly treated or should they be jailed using the ISA laws.
But phony TT totally deviated from the question and begin to talk about Norway and international terrorism.
Perhaps he had mastered the art of diverting and avoid answering the actual question which he doesn’t really want to answer anyway !
