Police inspector arrested over hit-and-run injuring traffic constable in Kuala Lumpur police probecase
A police inspector on medical leave has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident that injured a traffic constable in Kuala Lumpur, police said. The suspect was detained on 13 April following CCTV analysis and intelligence-led investigations.

MALAYSIA: A police inspector has been arrested over a hit-and-run incident that injured a traffic police constable in Kuala Lumpur, authorities confirmed.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspect was detained on 13 April along Jalan Cheras following CCTV analysis and intelligence gathering.
According to police, the suspect is believed to have been on medical leave for mental health-related treatment at the time of the incident.
Incident during traffic duty
The hit-and-run occurred on 10 April along Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra, where a 27-year-old traffic constable was on duty managing road traffic.
The constable, identified as Kons Roslan Salleh, was struck from behind by a vehicle that did not stop after the collision, before fleeing the scene.
He sustained injuries to his hand, head and ribs as a result of the impact.
Police said the suspect attempted to flee when authorities moved in to arrest him, during which multiple vehicles were reportedly damaged, including a police vehicle involved in the operation.
Arrest and investigation
Commissioner Fadil said the suspect was eventually arrested along Jalan Empat after efforts to track the vehicle through CCTV footage.
Breathalyser and urine tests conducted on the suspect returned negative results.
Police confirmed that seven vehicle owners, including a police unit MPV team, have lodged reports regarding damages linked to the incident.
Authorities have urged any remaining affected parties to come forward to assist investigations.
Medical background and legal classification
Further checks revealed that the suspect is a serving police inspector who had been placed on medical leave and was approaching retirement.
According to The Star, police stated that the suspect suffers from schizophrenia and is currently receiving treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 186 of the Penal Code for reckless driving and obstructing a public servant from carrying out their duties.
Investigations are ongoing.
