MARUAH will convene a public forum on 15 February 2026 to examine Singapore’s Budget 2026, days after its release by Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong on 12 February 2026.
The event, titled “Singapore Budget 2026: Is It Good Enough?”, will feature four speakers analysing key aspects of the national budget, including fiscal policy, employment trends, healthcare financing, and land use planning.
The dialogue will take place from 2.00pm to 5.00pm at The Arts & Civil Space, 2 Kallang Avenue, #03-16, CT Hub, Singapore 339407.
The programme will include panellists’ presentations, a moderated discussion among speakers, an open interactive session with attendees, and the formulation of recommendations.
The dialogue is organised by MARUAH, a human rights organisation and working group for an ASEAN human rights mechanism in Singapore.
Mr Leong Sze Hian will address key issues arising from Singapore Budget 2026. The flyer describes him as a veteran advocate with academic and professional experience in fiscal analysis, offering what organisers call a “critical and comprehensive breakdown” of the Budget.
Ms Wendy Low Wei Ling will speak on employment, employability, and artificial intelligence. According to her biography on page 2 of the flyer, she is an intellectual property lawyer and partner at Eldan Law LLP, with experience in digital rights and e-commerce, as well as social advocacy work.
Dr Jeremy Lim will focus on health and community care. The flyer notes that he is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of AMILI and has held advisory roles with international organisations including the World Bank and the World Health Organization.
Mr Tay Kheng Soon will discuss land use and housing. The event materials describe him as a veteran architect and urban thinker, founder of the Future of Singapore Group, and author of the 2025 book Future of Singapore?
The dialogue comes amid public interest in the implications of Budget 2026 for households, businesses, and social services.
The forum aims to provide independent perspectives ahead of parliamentary debates on the Budget and to encourage public engagement on its policy direction.
