SINGAPORE: A man has been caught on CCTV allegedly taking and discarding footwear from outside a public housing unit in Singapore, in an incident reported in Woodlands on 10 April 2026.

Footage of the incident, shared on social media and later reported by Stomp, shows a man removing multiple pairs of shoes from a rack along a corridor before appearing to throw them into a rubbish chute.

The incident took place at about 6.05 am at a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block along Woodlands Drive 73.

Police confirmed that a report has been lodged and investigations are ongoing.

Footage shows man taking footwear

In a CCTV footage shared by Instagram account 'sgfollowsall', the man was seen entering the corridor wearing a singlet, shorts, slippers, and a pair of black gloves.

He appeared to look around before squatting near a shoe rack outside a residential unit and taking four pairs of footwear, including children’s shoes.

The man then bundled the items together and moved quickly towards the end of the corridor.

Shoes allegedly discarded

The footage appears to show the man throwing the shoes down a central refuse chute.

The affected resident, identified as Ridzwan Zuhaire Zuraime based on the report by Stomp, said he did not recognise the individual and believed the man was not an immediate neighbour.

“My twins’ sandals for school, all gone. Realised it when we were about to send them to school,” he said.

Police report filed

A police report was filed, stating that one pair of shoes and three pairs of sandals were taken, with an estimated total value of S$150.

The resident also alerted a town council worker to look out for the missing footwear in refuse collection areas.

In response to queries, police confirmed that a report had been lodged and that investigations are ongoing.

The incident has drawn attention online after the footage was shared on social media platforms.

Some users questioned the motive behind the act, while others pointed out the unusual behaviour shown in the video.
