SINGAPORE: A Pakistani man was detained and subsequently deported after triggering a temporary lockdown at Woodlands Checkpoint on 4 June 2026, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

In a media reply issued on 12 June 2026, ICA said an auxiliary police officer spotted the man walking against the flow of traffic at about 9.42am near the entrance to the checkpoint's arrival motorcycle zone.

When questioned, the man claimed he had dropped his CashCard.

However, as the officer attempted to locate the man's motorcycle, he turned around and ran back towards Malaysia despite being instructed to stop.

“ICA officers immediately responded to the incident and initiated a lockdown of the checkpoint, as part of our security protocols,” the authority said.

The man was subsequently arrested and handed over to ICA's Enforcement Division for investigations.

According to ICA, he claimed he had no intention of entering Singapore.

He was later issued a stern warning for failing to comply with officers' instructions and for resisting them in carrying out their duties.

ICA also barred him from re-entering Singapore.

Under the Immigration Act, anyone who resists or obstructs an immigration officer in the execution of official duties may face a fine of up to S$4,000, imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both.
