More than 50 masked individuals broke into a karaoke entertainment centre in Taman Shamelin, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 5, damaging property after a lorry rammed the premises’ gate, police said, as authorities launched a manhunt for the suspects.

The incident, believed to have occurred at about 1.30pm, was captured in a 71-second video that later went viral.

The footage showed a group of individuals, mostly dressed in black and armed with objects resembling iron rods and wooden sticks, storming the karaoke (KTV) premises.

A lorry was seen crashing into the front gate of the outlet, smashing it open before the group entered through the breach.

Once inside, the group reportedly damaged various equipment and property within the building, although the full extent of the losses remains unclear.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects carried out acts of vandalism after gaining entry, Bernama reported.

Authorities said the motive for the incident has not yet been established.

Police are investigating whether the attack may be linked to revenge, personal disputes or debt.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that a report was received at about 7.30pm on the day of the incident.

“The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 148 of the same code,” he said.

“Currently, efforts are underway to track down the suspects.”

Officers from the Cheras District Police Headquarters are continuing investigations to identify and locate those involved in the incident.
