Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) has warned that Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) operations could be reinstated on Orchard Road if traffic conditions deteriorate further, the authority said in a statement on 25 May 2026.

Orchard Road has remained unpriced since April 2020. LTA said speeds along the stretch have persistently remained below optimal levels since October 2025.

LTA said it has been closely monitoring traffic conditions in the district and is considering reinstating ERP operations for the area. If congestion deteriorates further in the next quarter, pricing will resume, the authority said.

School holiday discounts at six locations

Separately, LTA announced that motorists will benefit from discounted ERP rates at six locations during the school holidays, running from 2 to 28 June 2026.

The six locations are the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) before Alexandra towards City, the AYE after Jurong Town Hall towards City, the southbound Central Expressway (CTE) before Braddell Road, the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) and East Coast Parkway (ECP) after Defu Flyover, the westbound Pan Island Expressway (PIE) before Eunos Link, and the northbound CTE after PIE.

LTA said the six locations were identified in anticipation of lower traffic demand during the school holiday period. The discounted rates will end on 29 June 2026.

Rate increases from 29 June

From 29 June 2026, ERP rates will increase by S$1 at two locations to manage congestion, LTA said.

The two affected locations are the AYE after Jurong Town Hall towards City, and the PIE at Kallang Bahru and the slip road into Bendemeer.

LTA said the increases are based on its monitoring of traffic conditions in April, which found that traffic had built up along various stretches of expressways at those points.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead and consider alternative routes, the authority said.
