SINGAPORE: A 60-year-old woman died after falling from a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block in Sembawang on 10 March 2026, with police investigating the incident as an unnatural death.

The fall occurred at about 5pm at Block 364A Sembawang Crescent.

The woman was conveyed unconscious to hospital, where she later died from her injuries, according to police.

The Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed they were alerted to a case of fall from height at the location.

Police said the woman was taken to hospital unconscious and subsequently died.

The case has been classified as an unnatural death, with investigations ongoing.

According to a report by Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao, the woman was believed to have fallen from the eighth floor following a dispute with a man who lived with her.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument between the pair in the corridor shortly before the incident.

A resident identified as Ms Zhong, 25, told Zaobao she heard shouting outside her flat and looked through the peephole of her door to see the two neighbours arguing.

“They are my neighbours. They argued for a few minutes and then it went quiet,” she said, according to the report.

She added that moments later she heard people screaming from below and suspected someone had fallen.

“When I looked out of the window, I only saw a shoe,” she said.

Ms Zhong said she did not witness the fall itself and remained inside her home throughout the incident.

Police officers later spoke to her and asked about a folding table placed along the corridor outside the unit.

She said the table had already been there but was usually folded, and had only been opened earlier that day.

According to Ms Zhong, officers also checked the table for possible footprints during their inquiries.

She added that she heard the man telling police he had just returned from Sun Plaza shopping mall.

However, she believed the pair had been outside arguing earlier.

Several members of the public told Zaobao that the woman appeared to still show signs of life after the fall before she was taken to hospital.

The report stated that at about 11pm, a man wearing a checkered short-sleeve shirt and black shorts left the unit accompanied by three police officers.

He was believed to have been taken to a police station to assist with investigations.

Ms Zhong confirmed that the man escorted by officers was the same person she had seen arguing with the woman earlier.

The pair were understood to be living together in the same unit.

According to the report, the man is 66 years old and was believed to be in a romantic relationship with the woman.

Police officers remained at the scene for approximately six hours and concluded their investigations at about 11pm on the same day.
