MALAYSIA: A lorry driver is being hailed online after appearing to help prevent a potentially serious accident involving an express bus on Malaysia's North-South Expressway on 15 June 2026.

Dashcam footage timestamped at approximately 6.26pm captured the incident, which reportedly occurred near the Menora Tunnel area.

Bus appeared to lose control downhill

The video shows an express bus travelling downhill before appearing to lose control.

As the bus descended, it was seen striking a roadside guardrail and narrowly avoiding several smaller vehicles travelling along the expressway.

The footage then shows a lorry travelling ahead of the bus moving into position directly in front of it.

Moments later, the bus collided with the rear of the lorry, which appeared to absorb the impact while slowing both vehicles to a stop.

Driver praised for quick thinking

Social media users praised the actions of the lorry driver, with many crediting him for helping prevent a larger collision involving multiple vehicles.

Some commenters described the driver as a hero, while others said he had put himself at considerable risk to protect other road users.

A user who shared the footage claimed the bus had suffered a brake failure while descending the slope, although this has not been officially confirmed.

Authorities yet to confirm details

At the time of reporting, authorities had not publicly confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident.

It remains unclear whether anyone was injured or what caused the bus to lose control.
