A community cat in Everton Park, named Timmy, has been harassed again, with a man allegedly cutting its fur using a pair of scissors.

The black-furred cat was previously targeted in May 2025, when another individual spat water directly at its sleeping area.

A resident, who requested anonymity, told local media that the latest incident occurred at around 5.30pm on 7 February 2026.

CCTV footage shared on an Instagram account dedicated to Timmy showed a man wearing a brown T-shirt and shorts approaching the area where the cat was resting, which was partially out of the camera’s view.

The man was seen wearing white gloves and holding a pair of scissors.

He walked directly towards Timmy and reached out with the scissors. At one point, the man appeared to flinch as the cat reacted, but continued despite Timmy’s struggle. The footage showed the man pinning the cat down with one hand while attempting to cut its fur with the other.

Timmy eventually managed to break free and flee, with the man continuing to pursue him. The cat later escaped by hiding in a drain.

According to the resident, the man had not been seen in the area prior to the incident.

About 30 minutes later, Timmy’s carer noticed bald patches on the cat’s head and near one of its hind legs. The cuts were described as being “super close” to the skin, and Timmy’s whiskers were also found to have been cut.

Tufts of black fur were later discovered in the corridor and in Timmy’s basket. Despite the incident, Timmy was not injured.

A report has been lodged with the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) by the cat’s carers.
