GUIZHOU, CHINA: A viral video allegedly showing two female students attempting to push another student from a rooftop balcony at Guiyang No.40 Middle School in Guizhou province has triggered widespread concern online.
The 47-second clip, which circulated on Chinese social media platforms including Weibo and Douyin before being reshared on X, appears to show a teacher approaching a rooftop stairway while recording the scene.
The footage has been described online as showing an alleged bullying incident.
Rooftop confrontation captured on video
According to online accounts, two female students allegedly attempted to push another female student from a rooftop area and tried to make the incident appear like a suicide attempt.
The video appears to show two taller female students grabbing another student near the edge of a rooftop ledge while the student can be heard screaming.
The situation changed when a teacher arrived at the scene and shouted: “Which class are you from?”
After the teacher’s intervention, the two students immediately released their grip, causing the student to fall onto the rooftop floor.
The footage appears to show the two students attempting to hide after releasing the student, while the teacher continued recording and confronted them.
Teacher warns students about consequences
In the video, the teacher can be heard telling the students: “This is not a funny game. If you pushed her down and killed her, you would have to pay for taking a life. Do you understand?”
The two students were seen covering their faces with their hands as the teacher questioned them.
The student who had been held near the ledge was later seen lying on the ground, appearing distressed and gasping after the incident.
Online claims raise bullying concerns
Discussions on Douyin alleged that the student may have previously experienced bullying, including claims that she had been beaten and slapped by the two students involved.
Some online users alleged that the incident was an attempt to push the student from the ledge while disguising it as a suicide attempt.
A Douyin user claiming to be a teacher urged further investigation, writing that the screaming heard in the footage appeared to come from the student being pushed rather than those involved in the alleged act.
The user also suggested preserving the video as evidence and reporting it to police, saying it could help protect the student’s rights if further harm had occurred.
Public calls for investigation
Following the spread of the footage, some Chinese netizens tagged Guizhou police accounts to raise concerns about the incident.
Comments included fears that the outcome could have been much worse if the teacher had arrived later.
One user wrote: “If the teacher had gone upstairs a little later, would that girl have been pushed down by the two classmates? It is truly frightening to think about.”
Other comments described the alleged behaviour as extremely serious and urged witnesses to report the matter to police.
As of 15 June 2026, there had been no official statement from local authorities regarding the incident.
It remains unclear whether the two students involved have faced disciplinary measures from the school or whether police have opened any investigation.
